Why should I start Rhee Taekwondo?

Because its great fun! And, you will gain fitness, flexibility, and learn self defence for yourself and in defence of your family. One of the greatest advantages of Rhee Taekwondo as a martial art is that it is not only a superior art of self-defence, but it will also enhance every aspect of your mental and physical well-being.The practice of Rhee Taekwondo imparts to each member: self-control, self-discipline, high moral standards, improved psychological outlook and overall strength of character. Rhee Taekwondo is an accredited organisation and has foundation. It is a martial art that has history, and has a very good reputation.

Who will be instructing me?

The instructors are appointed by Master Rhee. 

What’s with all of the bowing?
Rhee Taekwondo is a traditional style martial art with a large emphasis on courtesy and respect – for yourself, your instructors/leaders and the art. Bowing is how we show this respect and courtesy. You should think of it as saying ‘hello’ and ‘thankyou’.

Do I have to compete?
No, in fact training in a traditional style martial art such as Rhee Taekwondo means there is no competition at all. Concentration in training is on improving your self physically and mentally, through disciplined technique, focused training, and perseverance.

How often can I get graded?
There are four ‘opportunities’ to be promoted throughout the year, provided you are showing improvement and learning well the next grades are easily achievable. 

Can I try Rhee TaekwonDo Free?
We offer the first two lessons free!

Can I come along to watch a class?
Yes, of course.

Do I need to make a booking?

No, Just turn up at your local class.

What should I wear / bring to my first lesson?
Tracksuit pants or shorts and a t-shirt, shoes for travel but we train in bare feet. Bring a water bottle.

When should I arrive at class?
Arrive 10 or 15 minutes before the start and introduce yourself to the instructor.

What are the chances of injury? 
Training takes place in a fun, safe, controlled environment. All training takes place under the watchful eyes of the instructors and leaders, so the chance of injury is minimised.

What does a typical class consist of?
Every class is very different from the next, although you can be sure to receive a good physical workout, flexibility training, focused pad/impact training, and sparring (simulated defence), all while working to improve the technical aspects of the Art.

What if I’m out of shape?
We expect your physical ability will increase over time, so you certainly don’t need to be ‘fit’ to train, rather you join the class to increase your fitness level!

What if I have a pre-existing medical condition or injury?
Training in Rhee Taekwondo is very individual, all members learn in a similar environment regardless of their own limitations. We believe self defence training is necessary for everyone, and we all learn to adapt to our own capabilities.

Do I need to bow when I enter and exit the DoJang (school)?
Yes, you will quickly learn the protocols and procedures.

The instructors encourage questions, so we can teach you as quickly as you wish to learn.
